Africa. The cradle of civilization. The motherland. A place I have visited twice and vow to visit again after international borders open up again. I have only been to five of the fifty-four African countries, but I plan to visit many more in the future. Africa is the world’s second-largest and second-most-populous continent. It is made up of numerous countries where thousands of languages are spoken, many thriving megacities are developing, and various cultures are celebrated from Egypt to Cape Town.

Many people are hesitant to visit Africa due to the media portrayal of the continent, and I find this very disturbing. As a young boy growing up in North America, I never had any desire to visit Africa due to the depictions of the landmass as being impoverished and dangerous. Every area in the world has its issues, and by no means am I staying everything in Africa is perfect, however, my experiences have been far more positive than negative during my time there.

I decided to make this post to show all the hiphoptravelers out there the side of Africa the media does not show you. Keep in mind, I have only seen a small portion of this beautiful continent, but I will continue to push the narrative that Africa is a must-see destination for anyone who loves nature, culture, animals, delicious food, and incredible hospitality. Below are some of the best photos I’ve taken during my time in Africa. In the future, I will make posts about the individual countries I have visited but for now, enjoy the beauty of Africa captured with photography.
